So I am baking cookies this morning, with my two very interested little girls. When the dough was ready I asked for them to move because I was about to use the hot oven, and little girls aren’t allowed to use the hot oven. Sissy said. “But big girls can!”
“Yes, Sissy, big girls can.”
“But little girls can’t.”
“No.”
“Boys can’t use the oven, either.

This was a friend’s status this morning.  My immediate reaction was an outburst of, “THAT’S A HORRIBLE LESSON!”

I know it was just a passing statement from a child but I hope her mother took the time to correct this false impression of gender norms.
